Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Monday, February 25 – about your Seattle Seahawks:
The Most Important Meal Of The Day
Last Thursday, Seahawks cornerback Tre Flowers made his way down to Seatac, Washington to visit Tyee High School. Accompanied by Seahawks mascot Blitz and Sea Gal Kylie, Flowers presented a $10,000 Hometown Grant to the Highline school district public school.
The grant was given on behalf of the Washington Dairy Council in efforts to provide the school with the resources to create a portable breakfast cart. Its purpose is to provide an easy solution for students to receive grab-and-go meals after the beginning of the school day. The school also plans to use the grant to purchase new equipment for its physical education programs. The Washington Dairy Council is a team of nutrition professionals funded by the Dairy farmers of Washington devoted to the promotion of lifelong health and enjoyment of food through leadership in nutrition education.
Flowers spoke in front of the student body at a Fuel Up To Play 60 assembly about how making healthy choices in his youth helped him to become a professional athlete. The rookie cornerback also participated in a Q&A with the students.
Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by the NFL and National Dairy Council (NDC), which was founded by America's dairy farmers, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The program is designed to engage and empower youth to take action for their own health by implementing long-term, positive changes for themselves and their schools.
