Good afternoon, 12s.
Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Monday, July 27 – about your Seattle Seahawks:
Ugo Gives Back
Seahawks safety Ugo Amadi has had a busy and meaningful offseason giving back to various communities around his hometown of Nashville, TN and in Seattle.
Most recently, Amadi came to Seattle's Leschi Elementary School to provide 75 backpacks full of school supplies and face masks to students. Before returning to Seattle, Amadi provided 75 more backpacks at Mount View Elementary School, the elementary school he attended in his hometown of Nashville.
In the uncertainty of the upcoming school year, Amadi hopes to help take the financial burden off of parents who are preparing their children for a much different school year. As he met students and parents, Amadi also hoped to get kids excited for school and offered reassuring words in preparation for their virtual schooling.
In a signed note, Amadi detailed his fondest memories of elementary school and how he looks forward to giving back: "We all come from different places and backgrounds but it doesn't mean we have to limit ourselves to these circumstances. I am now playing in the National Football League for the Seattle Seahawks," the note reads.
"You can be whatever you want in this world no matter who believes in you or not. I love you kids and I want to help you out for this upcoming school year by providing you with school supplies. Hopefully when you get older you can do the same thing for the next generation to come."
Prior to hosting two backpack drives, Amadi also spent a day in Nashville passing out lunches to medical center employees at the Alvin C. York Campus, part of the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, where his sister also works.
