Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Tuesday, August 1 — about your Seattle Seahawks.
DK Metcalf Ranked Among NFL's Best Young Receivers
In 2022, 21 NFL receivers eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark, with two coming from the Seahawks (Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf). Yahoo Sports Fantasy Analyst Matt Harmon breaks down why in fantasy (or reality), receiver DK Metcalf is one of the best wideouts league-wide 25-or-younger.
In just four seasons, 25-year-old Metcalf has accomplished plenty on the field for Seattle. The Ole Miss alum was 21 years old when he set the NFL Playoff record for receiving yards as a rookie in a game (160) against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. Last season, Metcalf posted a career-high 90 receptions, along with his second-career 1,000-yard season (1,048) with six touchdowns. In December, Metcalf joined Joey Galloway, A.J. Green, Randy Moss and Michael Thomas as the only receivers to reach 50 receptions, 900 yards and five touchdowns in each of their first-four seasons. Harmon opts to focus on the underrated elements of Metcalf's game that help land him at No.6 on the list.
6 - DK Metcalf
Metcalf is the lone player on this list drafted prior to 2020 — and he still won't turn 26 until December. He's an underrated route runner and is a chore to clamp up on the perimeter in press coverage. Don't forget about how good he is just because some other younger guys are nipping at his heels in the receiver ranks. I can't wait to see the Seahawks wide receiver trio in action now that Jaxon Smith-Njigba is in town.
Metcalf will turn 26 just days before (December 14) Seattle's Week 15 road matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Leading the 2019 draft class with 35 touchdowns, the best is yet to come for Seattle's dynamic young wideout.
