Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Wednesday, February 1 — about your Seattle Seahawks.
Jason McIntyre Follows Through On Bet, Gets Seahawks Logo Shaved In Head
Prior to the Seahawks' climb to a 9-8 record and a playoff berth, expectations for the team in 2022 were low from a national media standpoint. Some were more outspoken than others, such as The Herd co-host Jason McIntyre, who vowing before the start of the season to get the Seahawks logo cut into his head if the team finished over .500. This week, McIntyre followed through on that bet.
As the 2022 Preseason got underway, McIntyre and host Colin Cowherd discussed Seattle’s roster filled with new faces. "If they get to above .500, Colin, I'll shave a Seattle Seahawks insignia on the side of my head," McIntyre told Cowherd on live air.
After trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos for a slew of picks and players last offseason, Seattle shocked the football world thanks to quarterback Geno Smith and a phenomenal rookie class led by Pro Bowl cornerback Tariq Woolen and running back Kenneth Walker III. The aforementioned pair is up for Rookie of the Year nominations on both sides of the ball, while Smith etched his name in the franchise record books with over 4,000 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and a league-high 69.8 completion percentage on his way to Pro Bowl honors.
McIntyre honored his word this week, as Fox Sports delivered a barber to the show's set to make it happen.
Optimism surrounding the team is rightfully much higher from national media going into the offseason, as Seattle sends four players to the Pro Bowl and builds on a great year from its rookie class. Surely national media will be a little more careful with proclamations surrounding the team in 2023.
