Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today – Wednesday, August 3 – about your Seattle Seahawks.
Jordyn Brooks Named The Seahawks' Most Intriguing Player
Pro Football Focus drops their latest ranking, determining the most-intriguing players from each team for the 2022 NFL season. For the Seahawks, that player is third-year linebacker Jordyn Brooks.
In 2021, Brooks accounted for 183 tackles, the most in a single-season in team history. In 17 starts, Brooks notched double-digit tackles in 10 games, including 20 tackles in Week 18 against the Arizona Cardinals. Ari Meirov of Pro Football Focus released the 32 most-intriguing players for the 2022 NFL Season, picking one player from each team. The list features players from all positions, with Meirov giving detail into each selection. With the departure and retirement of Seahawks legends Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright respectively, all eyes are on Brooks to be a leader.
"The Seahawks moved on from future Hall of Fame linebacker Bobby Wagner this offseason, mainly because of his contract and the belief that Brooks is ready to slot in. Head coach Pete Carroll has told reporters that Brooks will be taking over Wagner's role as the team's defensive play caller. Brooks made great strides in coverage in 2021 compared to his rookie season and has been solid in run defense. Keep an eye out for him growing into a leadership role entering his third year."
