Wednesday Round-Up: Pro Football Focus Ranks Seattle Seahawks Receiver Corps No. 7 In NFL

The Seattle Seahawks receiver corps gets some love from PFF, climbing two spots in the Week 8 wideout rankings.

round up oct 26

Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Wednesday, October 26 — about your Seattle Seahawks.

The 4-3 Seahawks have become one of the league's biggest stories, defying the odds after plenty of offseason roster moves. Seattle is currently ranked No.11 in passing yards (1,580) thanks to quarterback Geno Smith and a high-powered offensive attack with plenty of weapons. But Marcus Mosher of Pro Football Focus singles out Seattle's receiving corps, ranking the Seahawks wideout group No.7 league-wide going into Week 8.

Seahawks wideouts Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf have combined for 72 receptions, 886 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season. Lockett has recorded five or more receptions in five games this season. Metcalf suffered a knee injury in Seattle’s 37-23 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, but won't need surgery. With Metcalf sidelined, Marquise Goodwin had his best game as a Seahawk, catching four passes for 67 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Mosher breaks down the Seahawks' Week 8 receiving corps rankings, climbing two spots this week after defeating the Los Angeles Chargers.

7. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (UP 2)

WR1: DK Metcalf (73.0)
WR2: Tyler Lockett (77.2)
WR3: Marquise Goodwin (60.5)

Despite the change in quarterback, the Seahawks' receivers keep producing. The duo of Metcalf and Lockett is one of the most dynamic and consistent pairings in the league. The Seahawks could use more playmaking from the rest of their receivers, but Metcalf and Lockett keep this unit in the top 10.

PFF stats to know:

  • Both Metcalf and Lockett are averaging over 2.0 yards per route run.
  • They have combined to drop only two passes on 103 targets.

Goodwin's two-touchdown performance against the Chargers wasn't just his opening statement as a Seahawk. Goodwin was reliable when the team needed someone to step up most with wideout DK Metcalf sidelined due to knee injury. While Metcalf hopes to return to Seattle’s offense soon, the team will look to Goodwin to deliver more performances like Sunday's.

Seattle will need all of the offensive firepower it can muster for Week 8's home matchup against the 6-1 New York Giants.

Social Post Of The Day

Seahawks rookie running back Kenneth Walker III is not only one of the biggest rookie risers of 2022, but he's the fastest ball carrier to score a touchdown this year.
