Good afternoon, 12s.
Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Wednesday, March 27 – about your Seattle Seahawks:
Give Fresh Air
March 26 is apparently a more significant day than I originally thought. Contrary to popular belief, National Spinach Day isn't the only thing to be celebrated on that specific day of the year. Shoe enthusiasts, otherwise known as 'sneakerheads,' will tell you that March 26 is Nike Air Max Day and it's just as important to mark your calendars for as April Fool's Day.
One participant in this year's celebration of the holiday was Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. He followed the trend of folks as they posted a video online, in this case to Twitter, unboxing a pair of Nike Air Max's. However, putting his own little Wilson-spin on things, he declared that he'd be giving away his newly acquired kicks.
Nike Air Max Day celebrates the launch of the original Air Max 1 back in 1987. The inaugural Air Max Day started back in 2014, exactly 27 years after the first model of the shoe hit the pavement. Nike released a one-to-one recreation of its forefather and the tradition has continued through the past few years.
This year, Nike wanted to switch things up a little bit and focus its efforts on its new campaign associated with the holiday, "Give Fresh Air." Nike.com says that the campaign "is a rally cry to unify sneaker culture around a shared passion to ignite change. Nike and our partners in North America will create ways to give 'Air' to support local organizations and champion the power of community."
As a part of the campaign's initiative, Nike partnered with over a dozen stores around the continent to allow people to donate their new and 'gently worn' sneakers. Each store is then partnering with a local organization to give back. With a philanthropic-based purpose now surrounding Air Max Day, there's no surprise that Russell Wilson got involved.
Social Post Of The Day
Today's 'Social Post of the Day' comes from the Seahawks' official Twitter account, as they started posting a handful of downloadable wallpapers for your mobile device in a content series called, "#WallpaperWednesday."
