Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Wednesday, June 7 — about your Seattle Seahawks.
After Inking His Rookie Deal, Seattle Outside Linebacker Derick Hall is Recognized by CBS Sports for his Potential.
On Day 2 of April’s 2023 NFL Draft, Seattle selected Auburn outside linebacker Derick Hall with the No.37 pick. After a near-death experience at birth, Hall has beat the odds to make it to the NFL. Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports breaks down why the Auburn alum is an under-the-radar NFC rookie to watch in 2023.
Seattle is getting a leader on-and-off the field, as the former Tiger rose from Second Team All-SEC in 2021 to First Team in 2022 while serving as team captain in his final year. Over his final two seasons, Hall accumulated a combined 90 pressures, the most of any Auburn Tiger since 2016. CBS Sports insider Chris Trapasso breaks down what Hall brings to the table for Seattle, as he ranks the Top-16 rookie sleepers in the NFC.
EDGE Derick Hall
Drafted: No. 37, second round
Impressive stat to know: Vertical in the 95th percentile, broad jump in the 93rd percentile
_In this class, Hall was a first-round prospect in my estimation. Big, chiseled, springy and demonstrated high-end productivity across multiple years, including a 13.6% pressure-generation rate over his final two seasons at Auburn. Could his pass-rush move arsenal add more maneuvers? Sure. That's the case with just about every young edge rusher. But Hall's physical capabilities give him a high floor, and he's strong as an ox. The Seahawks have gone young on defense and it's a unit still looking for an alpha rusher on the perimeter of the defensive line. That will be Hall, in time, in his rookie season. _
Hall's selection and subsequent rookie contract show what Seattle thinks of his potential - we are just a few months away from him getting to unleash as the 2023 season approaches.
