Good morning, 12s.
Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Wednesday, March 13 – about your Seattle Seahawks:
CLEAR-ly A Victory
One easy tap, and you're in. You may be familiar with CLEAR, the technology company that uses biometrics to build a secure and connected world. The Seahawks announced a partnership with CLEAR back in August 2018 to integrate their technology into CenturyLink Field. Fast forward eight months to Austin, Texas where The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals were taking place and the same partner won an Interactive Innovation Award in the "New Economy" category for their payment and age validation technology.
The New Economy award category is defined as recognizing and "honoring those redefining the exchange of goods and services, from the sharing economy, to virtual currency, to micro-finance, to mobile-device-payments systems, and beyond," according to the conference’s website.
The Seahawks were the first team in the NFL to deploy not only CLEAR security lines but also the biometric technology for payment and age verification for alcohol purchases at concessions. Seattle's deployment was the same data included in the award entry for SXSW. South by Southwest is an annual event compiled of film, interactive media, conferences, and music festivals that takes place in Austin, Texas. SXSW Interactive is focused on emerging and innovative technology and the festival includes speakers, parties, a trade show, and a startup incubator.
The purpose of integrating the innovative platform to CenturyLink Field was to enhance the fan experience and improve security. The locations of where CLEAR is used within the stadium can be found here. Signing up for CLEAR sports is free and can be used at any stadium with CLEAR, which in Seattle includes CenturyLink Field and T-Mobile Park.
