Seahawks vs. Buccaneers Was Most Watched International Game On NFL Network
The Seahawks may have fallen 21-16 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10's international matchup in Munich, but the matchup did wonders for increasing global interest in the NFL, becoming the most-viewed NFL Network international game ever.
Attendance at Allianz Arena was announced at 69,811, as fans watched the Seahawks' valiant comeback effort fall short late.
Viewership statistics revealed that the Week 10 matchup garnered 5.8 million viewers on NFL Network, the highest since international play began in 2016.
The combined television and digital viewership for Sunday's matchup was a 19 percent increase in-comparison to Week 4's matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings in London.
Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll discussed the opportunity to play in Munich and how he'd gladly do it again if the Seahawks were given the chance.
"If the league gives us a chance to do it," said Carroll. "We'll be wide open for it. This was a great event for us. Having it come the week before the bye is really valuable. It's a totally different experience if you didn't have that. I wouldn't want to do that if it wasn't with the bye. But it's just competitively such a challenge. Yeah, we're wide open."
Seattle is using the bye to regroup ahead of Week 12's home matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite the loss, the team maintains first place in the NFC West.
