Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today —Wednesday, November 22 — about your Seattle Seahawks.
The Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award was created in 2014 and honors the founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Art Rooney Sr.
This year the Seahawks nominated Bobby Wagner for the award.
"Sportsmanship is the core of the game, the vanguard of public confidence, the keeper of game integrity," said Troy Vincent, NFL executive vice president of football operations. "These Rooney Sportsmanship Award nominees exemplify the spirit of fair play and the values of respect, integrity, commitment to team and resiliency at the highest level of competition."
Defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt said that Wagner embodies the qualities that Vincent mentions.
"Everything he does, he treats people around with high regard, showing respect to individuals, to teammates, to other players on other teams. Everything about him is about respect, how he treats other people. So if he wins this award, there's nobody better you could select," Hurtt said.
He goes on to say that even when Wagner was with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, those aspects of his character still shined.
"He has always carried himself with such high class and grace. Even when he was not here, he still was super classy and respectful the whole way through," Hurtt said.
The winners will be voted on by current NFL players. The winner will be announced before Super Bowl LVIII as a part of NFL Honors. The winner of the award will receive a donation from the NFL Foundation for the player to donate to a charity of their choosing.
