Good afternoon, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today —Wednesday, November 29 — about your Seattle Seahawks.
*Whether it's supporting animals, health awareness or youth empowerment the Seahawks are supporting a handful of different organizations in this year's cause. *
The players support the organizations through customized cleats handed painted and spray painted by artists.
After the players get their cleats, they can wear them Thursday during the Seahawks game at Dallas and choose to make them available for auction through the NFL.
The proceeds made from each player's shoe will then be given to the organization that they are supporting.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba will be returning to his hometown of Dallas for Thursday Night Football at the Cowboys.
The cleats that Smith-Njigba had customized are supporting the Little Warrior Foundation to honor his high school friend, Ryan Roberson, who lost his battle with Ewing Sarcoma cancer.
"I think it's just important to raise awareness on things like this," said Smith-Njigba. "If I have an opportunity to just put some cleats on and help - I'm going to do whatever I can to do that. It has a special place in my heart and I'm happy I get to do it."
Another Seahawks rookie, Derick Hall is also supporting a cause near and dear to him.
Hall was born at 23 ½ weeks weighing just 2 pounds, 9 ounces and his foundation focuses on premature babies, food insecurity and youth fitness.
His cleats represent the Derick Hall 1% Foundation to uplift others.
"Around the age of five, that's when I really can remember going out practicing, playing," Hall said. "Everybody had an inhaler—my mom, the coach, the referee, literally everybody had an inhaler, it was just, whoever was closest to me would give it to me if I needed it. I'd go out for five plays, then I'd have to sit out for 20 minutes, because my body couldn't keep up. I'd see all the other kids running around, being able to run around all day, and I was like, 'I wish.' So that was the first instances where I was like, 'Dang, this is what I'm going to have to deal with growing up.'
Following the Seahawks game at Dallas some players' cleats will be available to bid on here.
