Die Seahawks kehren nach zwei Siegen in Folge auf fremden Plätzen ins heimische Lumen Field zurück, wo sie am Sonntagabend in einem NFC-Playoff-Duell auf die Packers treffen.
Seattle hat mit vier Siegen in Folge eine 8-5-Bilanz erreicht und führt die NFC West an. Die Packers reisen nach einer knappen Niederlage gegen Detroit am vergangenen Donnerstag mit neun Siegen und vier Niederlagen an die Westküste.
"Sie spielen einen großartigen Football-Stil", sagte Seahawks-Coach Mike Macdonald vor dem Duell. "Das ist 'Winning Football'. Das zieht sich durch die gesamte Franchise-Geschichte, besonders seit Matt (LaFleur) das Team übernommen hat. Wir respektieren, wie sie spielen – sie sind physisch, geben alles, attackieren den Ball und schützen ihn in der Offensive. Sie machen all die Dinge, die ein wirklich gutes Football-Team auszeichnen."

Kann die Seahawks-Defensive Packers Running Back Josh Jacobs stoppen?
Josh Jacobs, der im Frühjahr als Free Agent von den Raiders zu den Packers wechselte, ist eine Bereicherung für die Offensive von Green Bay. Mit 1.053 Rushing Yards in 13 Spielen – dem drittbesten Wert der Liga – sowie elf Rushing Touchdowns gehört er zu den Top-Performern der NFL. Seahawks-Fans erinnern sich vielleicht noch an seine 229-Yard-Gala im Lumen Field 2022, damals im Trikot der Raiders.
"Offensichtlich können sie den Ball laufen, und das sehr gut", sagte Defensive Coordinator Aden Durde. "Ihre O-Line ist schnell und schafft Raum für Jacobs, der nur wenig Platz braucht, um vertikal Druck zu erzeugen. Und sie haben Geschwindigkeit auf allen weiteren offensiven Positionen."
Die Packers kombinieren ihr starkes Laufspiel mit einem starken Arm von Quarterback Jordan Love. Diese Mischung erschwert es Defensiven, den Quarterback zu attackieren – so wurde Love diese Saison erst 11-mal gesackt.
"Man muss sie in Passsituationen zwingen, und das beginnt damit, den Lauf zu stoppen", erklärte Durde. "Es ist eine alte Defensive-Line-Weisheit: Du musst dir das Recht verdienen, den Quarterback zu rushen. Das erfordert Disziplin, Technik und die richtige Einstellung."
Die Seahawks haben seit Woche 9 in der Laufverteidigung große Fortschritte gemacht, aber Jacobs wird eine ihrer größten Herausforderungen.
Kann die Seahawks-Offensive erneute Ballverluste gegen eine aggressive Packers-Defensive vermeiden?
In den letzten zwei Spielen blieb die Seahawks-Offensive ohne Ballverluste, was ein positiver Trend für ein Team ist, das in den ersten elf Spielen nur zweimal fehlerfrei blieb. Diese Ballkontrolle wird gegen die Packers entscheidend sein, deren Defensive mit 24 Balleroberungen auf Platz drei der NFL liegt.
"Sie haben echte Balljäger", bestätigte Quarterback Geno Smith. "Xavier McKinney, einer ihrer Safeties, führt die Liga bei den Interceptions an. Jaire Alexander, wenn er spielt, ist einer der besten Cornerbacks der Liga. Die Jungs suchen aktiv nach Möglichkeiten, den Ball zu gewinnen."
Die Seahawks müssen aggressiv bleiben, aber gleichzeitig sorgfältig mit dem Ball umgehen, um unnötige Ballverluste zu vermeiden.
Kann die Offensive Line ihre Leistung aus der Vorwoche bestätigen – mit oder ohne Kenneth Walker III?
Die Offensive Line der Seahawks feierte in Arizona ihr bestes Spiel der Saison, ermöglichte 176 Rushing Yards und ließ keinen Sack zu. Und das, obwohl Kenneth Walker III verletzt fehlte. Zach Charbonnet sprang mit 134 Rushing Yards und zwei Touchdowns ein, unterstützt von Kenny McIntosh.
"Respekt an die Jungs", lobte Geno Smith. "Sie haben nicht nur Blocks gesetzt, sondern auch bis zum Ende gekämpft und wichtige Räume geschaffen."
Walker könnte erneut ausfallen, aber Charbonnet und McIntosh haben bewiesen, dass sie hinter einer verbesserten Offensive Line auch gegen eine starke Laufverteidigung der Packers bestehen können.
Setzen die Seahawks ihre Interception-Serie gegen Jordan Love fort?
Nach einem schwierigen Saisonstart mit einigen Interceptions hat sich Jordan Love in den letzten drei Spielen stabilisiert und keine mehr geworfen. Doch die Seahawks-Defensive hat in sieben Spielen in Folge mindestens eine Interception verzeichnet – sieben unterschiedliche Spieler trugen zu dieser Serie bei.
Seattle wird versuchen, Love durch Druck zu Fehlern zu zwingen und diese Serie auszubauen.
Schwebt Jaxon Smith-Njigba weiter auf seinem Höhenflug?
Mit 592 Yards und vier Touchdowns in den letzten sechs Spielen hat sich Jaxon Smith-Njigba zur verlässlichen Waffe der Seahawks-Offensive entwickelt. Seine Chemie mit Geno Smith wächst und seine Leistung aus dem Slot ist ligaweit führend.
Allerdings trifft er auf eine Packers-Secondary, die nur einmal in dieser Saison 300+ Passing Yards zugelassen hat. Xavier McKinney und Jaire Alexander führen eine starke Truppe an, die ein harter Test für Smith-Njigba und Co. sein wird.
"Zu sehen, wie er alles zusammenbringt, macht mich stolz", sagte DK Metcalf über Jaxon Smith-Njigba. "Er wird weiterhin großen Erfolg in dieser Liga haben."
Die Seahawks haben in den letzten Wochen Momentum aufgebaut und werden alles daransetzen, dieses gegen die Packers zu halten – ein Duell zweier Playoff-Kandidaten, das alles bietet, was ein Sunday Night Game spannend macht.
