Good morning, 12s.
Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Thursday, May 30 – about your Seattle Seahawks:
Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica
As surprising as it was to see the Hollywood star not rocking his classic combination of a brown suit, mustard button-down shirt, and over-sized spectacles (think The Office), the visit from Rainn Wilson was a pleasure, nonetheless.
A regular OTA day it was not, as special celebrity and Seahawks fan Rainn Wilson stopped by the Virginia Mason Athletic Center for the day to watch his favorite NFL team during a day of open OTAs. This was actually his first time ever visiting the Seahawks' practice facility in Renton, Washington.
Growing up in North Seattle, Wilson has been a dedicated Seahawks fan his whole life. He stayed in the Pacific Northwest for a while as he attended the University of Washington, which is where he began his acting career. Wilson is in town because he is putting on a charity event on Thursday evening at the Paramount Theatre downtown titled, ‘Rainn Wilson & Friends.’
Wilson (or should I say 'Dwight?') stood on the sidelines wearing an inconspicuous getup, so much so that I could've easily mistaken him for any other Seattleite had I not seen every season of The Office about six times.
He eventually made his way over to practice field no. 2 where he practiced taking snaps from Seahawks long snapper Tyler Ott and then holding for kicker Jason Myers. Wilson even got a shot at kicking his own field goal.
The practice ended and Wilson's newly learned skills were put to the test in another edition of 'Competition Wednesday.' The special teams unit lined up, Wilson took the snap (nope, not Russell), and held a perfectly kicked ball that cruised directly through the uprights by Myers.
Rainn proceeded to meet some of his favorite players after practice and took pictures with a few of them. I think both parties were a little star-struck at that moment. Thanks for visiting Rainn, we hope to see you out at a game this year!
