Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Tuesday, January 9 — about your Seattle Seahawks.

Devon Witherspoon earns multiple postseason honors.

The end of the 2023 season has been historical for Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon; becoming the tenth Seattle rookie in franchise history to be named a Pro Bowler and just the third on defense.

In addition to being named Pro Football Focus’ top rookie for Week 18, the Seahawks rookie has picked up multiple other end-of-year honors this week.

Witherspoon showcased his versatility and game-changing skills through 14 games, while moving from the boundary to nickel cornerback. The Pensacola, Florida native provided plenty of hard-hitting plays, recording 79 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, a forced fumble and a 97-yard interception return for a touchdown. Witherspoon's 84.1 Pro Football Focus grade ranks the fourth highest amongst all corners league-wide, and leads all defensive rookies who played at least 600 snaps. In coverage, Witherspoon's 16 passes defense are tied for fifth most in the NFL.

An early-season injury delayed the Witherspoon breakout. The jarring hits from his time at Illinois voyaged with him to Seattle, and while he did allow four touchdowns in his coverage area, Witherspoon more than just countered those with 16 pass breakups and a pick that he returned for a score.

Witherspoon also was named second-team All-Pro by Pro Football Focus, making him the only rookie to earn first or second-team honors on defense.
