Good afternoon, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Tuesday, August 7 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

Carroll: "We're On A Really Good Track Right Now"

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll joined 710 ESPN Seattle's 'Brock and Salk' show on Tuesday morning to share some of his takeaways from his team's 2018 training camp, discussing how quarterback Russell Wilson is working with new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, revealing what's surprised him this camp, breaking down the running back competition and more. Here's some of what Carroll had to say prior to the Seahawks' 10th training camp practice:

(On what's energizing him heading into the new season...) "The spirit of these guys, and our coaches too. The new coaches are part of the growth and the experience of how we do things and they're having a blast. Their ability to relate to our guys is obvious and the players are feeding off of that. The players are feeding off the opportunity. They've been in that mentality throughout and we have competition everywhere, so it's really fun. We're battling."

(On any pleasant surprises of camp so far…) "I'm really excited about what we're doing on offense with the diversity that we've brought with the new guys and those adjustments. But I probably wouldn't feel like that if I hadn't seen the players respond. They're really responding to it. There's things that we're doing in the running game that is exciting. The running backs in general are exciting to watch every day. In the throwing game we have things that are allowing us to take advantage of some of the talent, special talent that our guys have, which you know I always love that stuff. All of that connection, it's working. It looks good. I don't know what's going to happen first week, or first couple weeks as you look at it but we're on a really good track right now, a track that I think most people would not think we could be on at this time."

Listen to Carroll's full interview starting around the 18-minute mark of this podcast.
