The Seahawks head into Sunday's game against the New York Jets with a relatively healthy roster for a late-season contest.
Only one starter, defensive end Carlos Dunlap II, was listed on Friday's injury report. Dunlap, who has a foot injury, didn't practice this week, but will be a game-day decision, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. Dunlap was also questionable last week after not practicing and did play on Sunday, but did not start and played only 23 of Seattle's 56 defensive snaps.
"Carlos Dunlap, we're going to go all the way to game time on that one," Carroll said. "We're going to work him out in pregame and make sure he's OK and give him every day of rest to make sure we've protected him as much as possible in hopes that he can play, but we'll determine that on gameday."
In addition to Dunlap, the Seahawks have three other players listed as questionable: tackle Cedric Ogbuehi (calf), safety Ryan Neal (hip) and guard Phil Haynes (hip/groin). Offensive lineman Jamarco Jones (groin/pelvis) is the only player ruled out, while running back Travis Homer (knee) is doubtful.
The best news on Friday's injury report is the name not included, right tackle Brandon Shell. Shell being left off the injury report means he will be ready to go against his former team after missing the past two games with an ankle injury.
"He had a full week of practice, he did really well," Carroll said. "He's ready to go, really no hesitation there… He's really been a great acquisition for us, we're really excited about him. I'm really glad he gets to play this week too, it's an important deal that he wanted to get back."
Running backs Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde both played last week, so their being left off the injury report was expected, but Carroll did say those two have gotten healthier this week and should be available to take on a bigger workload if the game calls for it.
"Both Chris and Carlos are ready to go," Carroll said. "They're both cranking and ready."
Carroll said cornerback Quinton Dunbar, who returned to practice this week after three weeks on injured reserve, won't yet be added back to the 53-man roster for this weekend's game. That means D.J. Reed should again start at right cornerback.
"Quinton's not ready this week," Carroll said. "He did practice all three days, but he's not ready yet."
Also returning to practice this week was running back Rashaad Penny, who is coming back from the torn ACL that ended his 2019 season. Penny won't play this weekend, but he made a very strong impression in his first week of practice.
"Rashaad Penny look great," Carroll said. "I mean, he looked great. He exceeded our expectations with his movement and his quickness and all of that. He's really in good shape. I don't know what that means for next week, but he looks as healthy as anybody out there, so we'll take it one shot at a time here, but a very positive initial return, and I know he's really jacked about it."
