The Seahawks will have starting defensive end Benson Mayowa for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, a significant development for the defense, particularly with defensive end Rasheem Green and linebacker/pass-rusher Bruce Irvin both going on injured reserve this week.
Mayowa had been listed as questionable on Friday's injury report due to a groin injury, though Seahawks coach Pete Carroll expressed optimism that the veteran pass-rusher would be available.
Three other players listed as questionable are inactive, however, cornerbacks Quinton Dunbar and Neiko Thorpe, and tackle Cedric Ogbuehi. With Dunbar, the starter at right cornerback the first two weeks, sidelined with a knee injury, expect Tre Flowers to start there this week.
Rookie defensive end Alton Robinson and rookie running back DeeJay Dallas are active for the first time after being healthy scratched the first two weeks. With Green and Irvin both going on injured reserve this week, Robinson could have a significant role in the defensive line rotation.
"He's a real strong player, a natural rusher," Carroll said. "He's got a natural package of moves and things that he's comfortable with—speed to power and all that stuff. He's got some real stuff. He's worked hard to hold up his end of it. We're not hesitant to play him in any situation in the game, meaning that he's got the playbook and is understanding it. We're going in with confidence that he'll do a good job."
Another player making his Seahawks debut will be linebacker D'Andre Walker, who could factor into the pass-rush rotation. Walker, who was claimed off waivers after Tennessee let him go as part of its roster cuts, was inactive for Seattle's first two games.
Also active are linebacker Shaquem Griffin and cornerback Ryan Neal, who were both elevated from the practice squad Saturday, as well as cornerback Linden Stephens and defensive tackle Anthony Rush, who were signed off the practice squad earlier in the week.
For the Cowboys, Pro-Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith is inactive due to a neck injury.
