The Seahawks will be without Pro-Bowl receiver Doug Baldwin when they host the Vikings on Monday Night Football, the result of a hip injury that kept him out of practice throughout the week.
Baldwin has been dealing with a groin injury that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said was related to this injury, but unlike in Seattle's Week 12 game in which Baldwin played after being listed as questionable, he is not able to go this time. This will be the third game Baldwin has missed this season in what has been a difficult year for him from a physical standpoint. After missing training camp and the preseason with a knee injury, Baldwin made it back for the regular-season opener, only to sprain his other knee in that game, causing him to miss the next two games. Baldwin had played in nine straight games since that injury, but did so while dealing with those two knee injuries at times, as well as groin and elbow injuries.
"It's been a really hard year for Doug," Carroll said Saturday. "He's a guy that doesn't miss anything. He's had to learn how to just get through the weeks and survive. He's had a number of things that have bothered him during the season. His attitude is just ridiculously strong. You can't imagine how competitive he is and how he will just will his way back on the field. We can't pass judgement on anything until the last second with him because he's just been a phenomenal competitor to get out on the field. It has been hard on him. It hasn't been the year at all he had hoped to have. He's ready to jump in there and do whatever he can as soon as he can get that done."
Also out due to injury, as expected, are linebacker K.J. Wright (knee) and guard D.J. Fluker (hamstring). Fullback Tre Madden (chest), is also inactive after being listed as questionable Saturday. Running back Rashaad Penny (ankle) is active after being listed as questionable. Also active is linebacker Mychal Kendricks, who is back after serving an eight-game suspension. His brother, Vikings linebacker Eric Kendricks, is active after being listed as questionable with a rib injury.
