The Seahawks head into their Week 3 game at Tennessee with a few injury question marks, and prior to Wednesday's practice, head coach Pete Carroll gave a few updates on the health of his team.
Tight end Jimmy Graham was able to finish Sunday's win over the San Francisco 49ers, but did sustain an ankle injury in that game that has his status for this week in question.
"He's not going to practice today," Carroll said. "We'll wait a couple days here to see how he does. He has had this same injury before, and we think he's got a chance to do it. His mind is that he can play. We'll have to wait and see later in the week."
Receiver Paul Richardson is expected to be OK this week after leaving last week's game with a dislocated finger, only to come back into the game to make the game-winning touchdown catch.
"He just made a ridiculous catch in the walk-through out here, so I would think he's going to be fine," Carroll said.
Cornerback Neiko Thorpe, one of Seattle's top special teams players, left Sunday's game with an ankle injury, but has not been ruled out for this week's game.
"He's moving around OK," Carroll said. "It's not out of the woods here, he's got a chance. We'll see. That's a big deal to us, Neiko has been a very effective special teams player and a tough dude on our football team. We'll miss him if we can't have him."
Linebacker Terence Garvin, who started at strongside linebacker in Seattle's Week 1 game at Green Bay, missed last week's game with a shoulder injury, but has "got a chance" to return this week.
"He'll get a little bit of work today, then we'll see how he does in the next couple of days and see if he can get back out," Carroll said.
Michael Wilhoite played the strongside linebacker spot in Garvin's place, and the Seahawks would be comfortable going with Wilhoite there again if Garvin can't go. Those two were in a competition for the starting job early in training camp, but a calf injury caused Wilhoite to miss most of the preseason, opening the door for Garvin to seize the job.
"Michael played really well," Carroll said. "He showed really good awareness for the limited amount of time he's had to play with us. He's just a ballplayer. He can play all three linebacker spots, he's a very effective special teams player for us. We just had that big timeframe where we didn't have him for so long, he kind of got lost for a bit, but when he jumped back into it, he did a nice job in the game. The coaches were really excited about his play and the consistency and the discipline. He made a couple of really nice, really heads up plays on some difficult things he had to cover. So we feel really comfortable with him."
In addition to those injured players, the Seahawks were also without receiver Doug Baldwin Wednesday. Baldwin was attending to a family matter, Carroll said, and will be back with the team Thursday.
