Three Injury Updates From Pete Carroll's Week 17 Wednesday Press Conference

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll comments on the status of left guard Luke Joeckel, defensive tackle Nazair Jones, and linebacker Bobby Wagner.

As the Seahawks begin practice and preparations for their Week 17 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, Pete Carroll met with the media to answer questions heading into the final week of the regular season.

The full press conference is embedded for you above, but here's a few injury updates from the Seattle head coach:

1. Luke Joeckel "Plans On Playing"

On Tuesday, Carroll said Luke Joeckel came out of Sunday's win over the Dallas Cowboys with a foot injury, but the setback appears to be minor enough that the Seahawks' starting left guard isn't expected to miss any game time.

"He plans on playing," Carroll said. "We think we can get him through the week. Sore, but he's improved each day and he feels better about that. I just got through talking to him about it, he's really counting on playing."

2. Nazair Jones "Day To Day"

Carroll said Nazair Jones (ankle), who missed his fourth straight game this past weekend, would not be able to practice to start this week, stating the rookie defensive tackle's status is "day to day" going forward.

"He's not going to be able to practice today, so we're just kind of going day to day and seeing what can happen here for him," said Carroll. "Disappointing, he had a little setback the other day. He didn't quite get out of his workout as good as he would have liked, so we've just got to wait and see how he's responding. It's a day to day thing."

3. "This Is A Good Week" For Bobby Wagner

A hamstring has hampered middle linebacker Bobby Wagner's practice time in recent weeks and the injury also forced him to come out of the game early in losses to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Rams. But Wednesday, as work for Week 17 begins, Carroll said the Seahawks Pro Bowler feels "the best he's felt."

"This is a good week for Bobby," Carroll said. "He's continued to see kind of the light of day here in getting better, so it's a good sign. He's working as much as he can today, but this is the best he's felt and that's a good sign coming out of last week."
