Wednesday Practice Report: Nine Players Do Not Participate For Seahawks

A closer look at Wednesday's practice report for the Seahawks and Rams ahead of their Week 5 game in Los Angeles.

The best photos from the Seahawks' Wednesday practice at Virginia Mason Athletic Center in preparation for Sunday's Game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Seahawks were minus nine players on the practice field Wednesday, with receiver Doug Baldwin (groin), tight end Jimmy Graham (ankle), left guard Luke Joeckel (knee), running back C.J. Prosise (ankle), defensive end Cliff Avril (neck), cornerback Jeremy Lane (groin), linebacker Michael Wilhoite (hamstring), cornerback Richard Sherman (groin), and safety Earl Thomas (knee) all sidelined to start Week 5.

The did-not-participate list is of similar length to Seattle's practice report from last Wednesday, when eight players were sidelined to start the week. Of those eight players, just two missed game action this past Sunday, and like last week, this Wednesday's did-not-participate report appears to be largely precautionary.

Avril, however, has already been ruled out for this week’s game, and according to head coach Pete Carroll, Lane's status won't be known until "all the way to the end of the week." Prosise, meanwhile, is still recovering from the ankle injury that kept him out of the team's Week 4 win over the Colts.

"We're seeing if he can make it back," offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said of Prosise's status this week. "He's still in the rehab process. If he makes it back then he'll be right back doing what he normally does. In the meantime we'll continue to move with the other guys that we have. J.D. [McKissic] is one of those guys that fills that role."

Elsewhere on Seattle's injury front, left tackle Rees Odhiambo (chest) was a full participant Wednesday and has made what Carroll called "a very favorable turn" since being hospitalized after Sunday's game for a bruised sternum that caused shortness of breath. Cornerback Neiko Thorpe (ankle), who's missed the past two games to injury, was limited Wednesday.

For the Rams, who the Seahawks face this Sunday in Los Angeles, safety Lamarcus Joyner was the only player held out of Wednesday's practice because of injury. Four other players did not participate Wednesday, but three of those four were not injury related and the fourth was due to an illness.
