The best photos from the Seahawks' Wednesday practice at Virginia Mason Athletic Center in preparation for Sunday's Game against the Houston Texans.
Seven Seahawks did not participate in Wednesday's practice at Renton's Virginia Mason Athletic Center, six of which were sidelined due to injury and one to illness, while cornerback Jeremy Lane (groin), who's missed Seattle's past two games, was a full participant, as Pete Carroll indicated would be the case earlier in the day.
As expected, Justin Britt was among those not participating Wednesday. The Seahawks' starting center suffered an ankle sprain in this past weekend's win over the New York Giants, and while Carroll said "it's going to be a challenge" for Britt to make it back for this week's matchup with the Houston Texans, the Seattle head coach added the club is "thinking he's working to get back this week," a notion assistant head coach/offensive line coach Tom Cable affirmed post practice.
"Looks like it, yeah," Cable said when asked if it looks as though Britt will have a chance to play Sunday at CenturyLink Field. "We'll know as we get closer."
During the handful of plays Britt missed against the Giants, rookie Ethan Pocic, who started the game at left guard, shifted over to the center position, with Mark Glowinski taking Pocic's place on the left side. If Britt is unable to go this week, Cable said the Seahawks are confident in the second-round pick's ability to help command the offense up front.
"He's good to go," Cable commented on Pocic. "We're ready to play him. He jumped right in, no issues. He's got so much of it in his background, we practice it every day, he gets a certain amount of snaps at center, so not worried about that. He's ready to play."
Also not participating during Wednesday's practice for the Seahawks were left guard Luke Joeckel (knee), running back C.J. Prosise (ankle), defensive end Michael Bennett (heel), defensive end Marcus Smith (ankle), free safety Earl Thomas (knee), and offensive lineman Matt Tobin (illness). Of that group, Carroll only commented earlier in the afternoon on Bennett, who Carroll said came out of Week 7 "really well" health-wise and should be "ready to go" for this weekend's game, indicating Wednesday was simply a rest day for the veteran lineman.
