Week 16 Injury Report: Seahawks vs. Rams

Updates on the Seahawks’ injury situation heading into their Week 16 game against the Los Angeles Rams, including injury designations for Sunday's game.

The Seahawks host the Rams on Sunday with a chance to clinch the NFC West with a victory, and they should be healthier than the last time these teams met when they were without running backs Chris Carson, Carlos Hyde and Rashaad Penny, center Ethan Pocic, cornerback Shaquill Griffin and defensive end Benson Mayowa, to name a few. That being said, the Seahawks will be monitoring several injury situations heading into the week.

Friday's Injury Report

The Seahawks have only four players listed with injury designations, meaning everyone else on the roster should be available for Sunday's game, including defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who missed two days of practice with a chest injury before being a limited participant Friday, as well as defensive end Carlos Dunlap II, who before this week had been questionable for the past three games with a foot injury, playing in two and missing one.

Running back DeeJay Dallas, who left last week's game with an ankle injury is the only player ruled out, while left guard Mike Iupati is doubtful after leaving last week's game with a stinger. Jordan Simmons would likely start in Iupati's place if he can't go.

Starting right tackle Brandon Shell, who has missed three of the past four games with an ankle injury, is listed as questionable, and was able to practice on a limited basis Friday after sitting out the previous two days.

Pete Carroll will address the media following Saturday's walk thru instead of his usual Friday press conference, so more injury details should be available then.

The Rams will be without their top running back, Cam Akers, who is ruled out with an ankle injury. He's the only player listed for L.A. on Friday's report.

Thursday's Injury Report

The same six players who sat out Wednesday's practice were again non-participants on Thursday, including starting defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who made it through last week's game seemingly without incident, but is listed with a chest injury, and right tackle Brandon Shell. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that Shell, who has missed three of the past four games with an ankle injury, may be able to return to practice by Friday. Defensive tackle Damon Harrison and left tackle Duane Brown also both sat out Thursday's practice, but both had "resting vet" status, and in the case of Brown, Thursday off is the norm this season.

Carlos Dunlap II, who has been dealing with a foot injury for the past three weeks, was limited for the second day in a row, progress from the past two weeks when he didn't practice at all until Friday, while Chris Carson (foot) went from limited to full participation.

Wednesday's Injury Report

As Seahawks coach Pete Carroll detailed in his press conference earlier in the day, defensive end Carlos Dunlap II was able to practice Wednesday, a good sign that his foot injury is improving. Dunlap, who played last week after being held out of Seattle's previous game, practice on Friday last week, his first practice over the past three weeks.

The Seahawks had six players sit out Wednesday's practice, including starting right tackle Brandon Shell, who has missed three of the past four games with an ankle injury, left guard Mike Iupati, who left last week's game with a stinger, and defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who is listed with a chest injury, though he was able to finish last week's game.

In addition to Dunlap, three other players were limited participants, tackle Duane Brown, who normally is limited Wednesday and off on Thursday, running back Chris Carson, who is still managing a foot injury, and receiver DK Metcalf, who is not listed with an injury but rather is just having his workload managed.

Not practicing for the Rams was starting running back Cam Akers, who is not expected to play this week due to an ankle injury, and defensive tackle Aaron Donald, though his absence was non-injury related.
