Week 7 Injury Report: Seahawks vs. Saints

Updates on the Seahawks’ injury situation heading into their Week 7 game against the Saints, including game designations for Monday night.

Saturday's Injury Report

The Seahawks have four players listed as questionable for Monday night's game, including three who were injured in last week's game against the Steelers: running back Alex Collins (groin), left guard Damien Lewis (shoulder) and defensive end Darrell Taylor (neck). Also questionable is reserve cornerback John Reid.

If Collins can't go, that could mean the first career start for Rashaad Penny, who is expected to be activated from injured reserve prior to Monday's game. Lewis was replaced in last weeks' game by Jamarco Jones, so he would seem the likely candidate to start at left guard if Lewis is unable to play. Taylor, meanwhile, is looking to make it back only a week after a very scary injury in Pittsburgh that saw him get strapped to a stretcher and carted off the field as a precaution.

Right tackle Brandon Shell, who briefly left the game with an ankle injury then returned, and Sidney Jones IV (concussion) are not listed with an injury designation, meaning they're good to go. The same is true for receiver DK Metcalf who didn't practice Friday with a foot injury.

The Saints will be without Deonte Harris, their leading receiver this season, due to neck injury. Three other players were ruled out for New Orleans, including backup quarterback Taysom Hill, who when healthy has a role in the offense even when not starting. The Saints very likely will add reinforcements to the roster prior to Monday's game, as seven players on injured reserve returned to practice this week.

Darrell Taylor, who is hoping to get back from a neck injury, went from limited Thursday to sitting out on Friday.

Thursday's Injury Report

The Seahawks opened their week of practice with two offensive starters sidelined due to injuries from last weekend's game, running back Alex Collins (groin) and left guard Damien Lewis (shoulder). Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said earlier in the day that Collins and Lewis were able to take part in that day's walk through and had a chance to do limited work in practice, so it will be worth monitoring their progress through the week.

In very encouraging news, defensive end Darrell Taylor was a limited participant, meaning he was taking part in practice only four days after being strapped to a stretcher and carted off the field in Pittsburgh with a neck injury. Also limited were tackles Brandon Shell and Cedric Ogbuehi, as well as cornerback Sidney Jones IV, who left last week's game with a chest injury and is now listed with a concussion.

The Saints had five players sit out practice due to injury and two more were limited, but overall they are getting much healthier coming off their bye with seven players being designated to return to practice from injured reserve this week.
